Sky Ferreira performing at Boston Calling Music Festival on September 6th, 2014 (Benjamin Esakof/Roman's Rap-Up).

On Sept. 6, 2014, Capitol Records-recording artist Sky Ferreira performed at Boston Calling Music Festival in Boston. Check out our exclusive interview with her below:

Q: You seem to be good friends with Miley Cyrus. How did you two meet and get involved with her “Bangerz World Tour?”

Ferreira: I guess we met on Twitter, something like that for a song. Then, she just asked me to go on tour with her!

Q: Going back to your beginnings, how did you first get started in music?

Ferreira: I have always done music as long as I can remember.

Q: You dropped out of high school after your freshman year. How did you come to make that decision?

Ferreira: I knew [school] wasn’t for me. I loved learning. I just don’t think I was going to the right schools where it didn’t really make sense for me. I knew what I wanted to do, and I already started doing [music] professionally. I was lucky it worked out!

Q: You write your own music? Where do you get most of your inspiration from?

Ferreira: Yeah, I do. Sometimes it’s a picture. Sometimes it’s just life in general. Or I’ll hear a word, and it leads to another.

Q: You were talking about your new album this summer on Twitter. Can you tell us anything about it?

Ferreira: I don’t know much about it because I just started it, but we’re planning on it coming out in 2015, that’s for sure. I’m working with a lot of the same people [as the previous album], but I think it will be fun!

Q: What’s your goal for the next year?

Ferreira: I’m going to take a break from touring. I’m just going to work on this next album and hopefully write and finish it maybe this year early next year.

Q: Finally, what’s one thing nobody knows about you?

Ferreira: I don’t really know! I feel like I’m really open about everything.
